Jay-Z wowed a sold-out crowd at the Library’s landmark 42nd Street building last night as he talked about his new book “Decoded” with Dr. Cornel West and the head of LIVE Paul Holdengraber. He touched on religion, abandonment, the truth about “99 Problems” and more. Before the conversation, Berg Collection Curator Isaac Gewirtz (pictured) gave Jay, Cornel and guest Harry Belafonte a private tour of some rare materials from NYPL’s collections, including works by LeRoi Jones, Jack Kerouac and William Blake. Click the pic to see more images of the tour, the talk and Jay signing books afterward. All photos by Jori Klein. Quotes from the magical night to come - stay tuned.
